Hampton Court Flower Show - part 1

Well, today was BOILING hot but I had a ticket to the 25th Hampton Court Flower Show... I've been to lots of them, it's a fabulous day out and more often than not, really hot.  Today was one of the hottest I've experienced.

I'm splitting the photos into several posts as I took 400....going to take some sorting.
You can take a 5 minute boat trip along the Thames from the station to the show entrance, but I never bother, instead walking across the bridge and past Hampton Court Palace - this year celebrating its 500th year.
Inside the show ground, we were met but a grassy structure, I heard one Dad saying to his kids they looked like Telly Tubby land!
I picked up lots of leaflets so I'd be able to name some of the gardens, but appear to have missed this one!

Hampton Court has a series of "Conceptual Gardens"   this one is called Ready,Aim, Flower

looking through the viewing whole at the end of the garden, bit like staring down the barrel in reverse!

this one was in a tent, it represents synaesthia - where you taste colours and such (a very simplistic definition) - it was fascinating, the lights kept changing colour and the effects were dramatic to say the least.

This was the winner of the best Conceptual Garden, called Equillibrium, and is a beach style garden, using groin posts upright round a flame in the centre
reminds me of the beach at Mum's (the artists come from just along the coast at Pevensey)

This one was viewed through tiny slits in the outside perimeter. Called Smart Vision, Having the Vision to See Beyond Mental Illness.

This one is the Circle of Life, the planting is on top of the wall which runs round the garden, reducing in height as it does. Gorgeous planting, and I love the contrast of the blue (water running into the garden)

This is the MacMillan garden, and quite beautiful!

Anne Marie Powell, the designer, was on site

Next door to MacMillan, this was beautiful
"A Growing Obsession"

Another of my favourites, though I can't find what it's called.

 the African Vision Malawai garden,
again, viewed through the holes you can see in the picture above, mirrors reflecting back at you too.

The Gallery of Mirrors - time for a selfie!
not really a fan of cactus, but they were pretty amazing specimens!
another favourite (good job I can have lots!) - the Just Retirement "Garden for every Retiree"

that's enough for one post, join me in a minute on the next one!

I was glad I went back and saw this show from the beginning. I was really impressed with some of these entries, but for the life of me, I don't understand the winner. There were others that were so much prettier, and this doesn't look like any beach in the US, at least not one I've been to (and I've been to a bunch on both the east and west coasts, as well as the gulf).

Time to move on, though.
