A Parisian Adventure - part 2 - the Arc de Triomphe

So, from the Eiffel Tower we headed off for the Arc de Triomphe.  Emma had charge of my guide book for the day (I think because she was the only one who'd visited Paris before) and found us the best way round Paris all day (she did a cracking job!) with a mixture of walking and the Metro.

 stunning buildings everywhere!
and gorgeously blue skies...
Lin and I wanted to go up to see the views, so Sam and Emma stayed down below...
284 windy steps later... a good workout that's for sure - we made it! I have to say, it was worth every centime of the Euro 9:50 it cost
I hope you don't expect me to know all about these statues as I didn't stop to read the information, and the souvenir guide I bought only covers the outside!!
 but it was all wonderful!

and as for the views.... WOW!!
I'll leave you to enjoy them...

the Champs-Elysee ready for the Paris Marathon the following day, green flags adorning every tree up the avenue.
 you could see for miles!
and I put my "long" lens on too...

Sacre Coeur in the distance, but looks so close in this view... lens at 250mm

 as opposed to here!

Lin took this one of me for a change.
after a look round the gift shop we went back down (much, much easier!!) and saw the underneath of the arches - simply stunning!
and met Emma and Sam again.. next stop, next blog post!!

What stunning views Helen but I'd have to make do with your photos. No way I could manage even 100 steps let alone nearly triple that!!! Off to the next post .........
