Peak District - "behind the scenes" of the James Sharp weekend

so, if you've come from my craft blog, you'll have seen the workshop photos from the James Sharp weekend  in Combs, in the Peak District, I just came home from.

On the way back to the pub Chris had found for our dinner, we had a little "detour" so my camera could get some exercise!!  Thanks, Chris and Lin (and to Sam, Emma, and Lin for putting up with me taking them all..)

I'll start though, with the house James lives in, and the garden in which he holds the workshops... Considering he spends a lot of his time in the States, it is beautiful!! I captured most of these during our lunch break.
hard to tell where the garden ends and the beautiful Peaks start
 secret nooks and crannies..
the gazebos nestling in the distance

 the sound of trickling streams

 a beautiful ceanothus
 roses
then, the scenic route to the pub...

 love a dry stone wall

Chris looking at the view too

 clouds gathering...

it wasn't always possible to stop the car of course, so grabbed lots of views as we sped by...

 Goyt Valley

you can see the view speeding by!!

finally (thank goodness they all said) we got to the pub for dinner... a beautiful meal, the best fish and chips I've had in I don't know how long. Everyone else enjoyed their meals too..

Next morning, we drove back to the pub as James had said he'd pick us up from here, Sam and Emma were leaving their cars here, as the narrow steep winding track to his house didn't do much for Emma's suspension on Saturday (the car, the car!)
and Sam's car is lower slung, so we didn't want to risk it.
See the sheep walking down to the farm for breakfast!?
On the way home, Lin R and Chris were dropping us at Buxton station for our train home, so we passed some more stunning scenery

made Lin stop for the beautiful grasses in the hedgerows

and at the pub, for coffee before Lin S and I caught our train back to Stockport for our transfer to the London train, and Chris and Lin R headed home.

all in all, a wonderful weekend. thanks girls, especially Lin R and Chris for the tour!
