Kew in the sun again

What a mixed autumn it's been.  Today started foggy but was sunny by the time I got to Kew and it's been glorious.

the blue skies were really showing off the colours

I went round to the Princess of Wales conservatory first

it was hot and steamy as usual

it's a quiet time for the orchid rooms

the alpine house lit from behind by sun

the nerines
and scilla are beautiful
as is the acer in the rock garden

the evolution garden was looking much as last week

but at least it was dry this week

heading towards the rose garden
where the row of Yoshino cherry trees are really splendid

the holly shrubs behind them make a great backdrop

I took a deviating route towards the lake

I had my rucksack with me today so a range of lenses and was swapping about

every so often I came across some Christmas lights trail prep!

more cherry trees in autumn colour

piles of decorations ready to be installed

the Henry sheep pieces towards the lake

there were only pigeons around the benches at the lake so I kept on by

crossing the lake now

a few moorhens skitting about
the phone came out to save changing lens

I didn't think it had taken this one

it was a good day for reflections

heading towards the Treetop walkway

there was a large area cordoned off and more Christmas prep going on around the foot of the Walkway

I turned towards the Japanese garden
pausing on my way

I had intended to go to Queen Charlotte's Cottage to see if there were any of the Fly Agaric mushrooms out, but completely forgot

instead I got very distracted by the white Henry at the Pagoda

I did keep changing lens here

one final look as I left, now surrounded by people again
looking towards the Palm House lots more lights outside the Temperate House part way along.

a holey leaf in Cherry Walk outside the Temperate House
walked through the Temperate House
a red nerine

I struggled to get this from a decent angle

outside again and more Henry's

I carried on back towards the Palm House

looking behind me to the Pagoda

the Henry's nestle into the landscape well
can't resist taking loads more of this Henry, hill arches,

it was busy and I was trying to not get too many people in view

back near the Victoria gate

the chittamwood still magnificent

I went into the cafe to get a hot chocolate - didn't bother with anything to eat

sat outside

looking towards the chittamwood tree,

before I headed home I took this on the phone (having packed away the camera when I went to the loo) at the Palm House pond,  looking stunning.

thanks for looking, what a beautiful final day of October it has been!
