Welcome alone for another morning at Kew. The weather was bright and sunny and glorious.
there've been more installations since last Saturday's visit although Kim saw some of the m on Thursday
I'll show you more of this one later
before I went macro I took some of the pots of tulips along the pond edge in the sun
they look splendid
so do the dark burgundy ones in the round beds either end of the palm house path
this is at the other end of the pond

I was on macro by now so couldn't get all of it in and there are barriers in the way too.
time for the gorgeous purple anemones at the top of the Broad Walk
I told you they would become favourites!
across the grass and into the Princess of Wales first

across the grass and into the Princess of Wales first
the jade vine has nearly finished but there were one or two still there
a huge stag's head fern has been hung near the "back" door

making our way through the arid bit to the exit
on our way to the rock garden a quick look at the leaf Sprite sculpture now surrounded by rhododendrons
the pasqueflowers were bathed in sun today but mostly going to seed nowa few flowers left though
I'll be waiting for the daisies outside in the rock garden before long!
alliums in the alpine house, looking forward to those outside later on too
walking through the evolution garden (blogger is reversing orders again )alliums in the alpine house, looking forward to those outside later on too
the rose pergola is bursting into life
bluebells in the grass with a log pile behind
the gunnera is growly fast!
I saw on a gardening programme yesterday that if you don't already have it planted, you are no longer allowed to as it is so vigorous and spreads madly.
Kew maintain theirs well, it is chopped back to ground every year
it was cut and colour day yesterday!
before heading back past the sculpture to the side of the Palm House as promised
sadly the grass in front of this is always roped off so we don;t think we'll be able to get close to this one when the exhibition opens next month
round the back of the Palm House on our way tot the lake
where we found Peter, and two swans amongst some geese and pigeons!
I might have got carried away with the swans and they swam in and out of the sun on the lake
but I don't care!
the light through his slightly raised wings was fantastic
they were mirroring one another nicesly!
chasing off the geese
then checked out the beautiful camassia at the top of Kew near the river.
couple of phone pics, down low
then heading across the grass at the top of the lake
and to the Woodland, with it's swathes of bluebells (and wild garlic)
through trees
there is another brood of much smaller babies, although they are depleting, Kim saw them with 12 on Thursday (although as she watched a crow snatched and despatched one in front of her)
we crossed back over the lake
where there were some great reflections
one of the swans was now on the bank a bit further along the lake
we cut across
toward the azalea garden
nearby is another grouped sculpture
I really like this group sculpture
posing!

stunning in the sunshine.
we love that you can walk through them as they create paths between the drifts to walk through

we went round to where the bird feeders used to be, but no sign of Goldie, or many birds at all.

when we were talking to Peter earlier at the lake he told us there were some fox cubs in a den under some storage containers for the Palm House renovations but he'd not seen them. however...
as we approached I noticed themhard to capture with the fencing round the cabins
one of them disappeared whilst I changed lenses
they went and hid underneath in their den.
