Kew - more glorious colour

Back to Saturday, back to Kew.
it was quite grey for most of the morning

trees at the top of the Broad Walk

Kim What's App'd  the pics she took of me out of order, I think this comes here!!

the bed at the top of the Broad Walk still has all the dahlias in full colour, after last week's work

we headed past the huge tree at the end of the BroadWalk

tree outside the the Princess of Wales

we had a quick walk through the  POW

we headed through the rock garden on the top path

before heading to the big acer at the junction to the evolution garden

strawflowers hanging to dry

I was crouching down to change lens

so I could get all this in!
still lots of strawflowers in the cutting beds in the veg garden
I can't decide if the camera rotated this incorrectly or not

through the evolution garden - Lynne I don't know what these are, I couldn't see the label!
however Kim has checked - it's Monk's Hood (aconitum)

the huge liquidamber tree across the other side of the Broad Walk

liquidamber

the leaves are beautiful

lots on the floor

oh blogger!!

well the leaves are from one of the trees in the next few photos

it was a shame the sun wasn't out yet

the back of some of the redder leaves were as pretty too

sitting on the refurbished Lockerbie memorial bench on the way to the lake

at the lake we found Peter and the heron who we've not seen for a couple of weeks
there were still quite a few greylags but  not as many as last week.
there were a couple who were splashing around and turning upside down

in the lake

there was a cormorant too but too far away for my lens
the trees on the island the other side of the lake crossing

the other side of the crossing

we headed to the cafe for refreshments as it was approaching 12

I'd brought us some of the M&S gingerbread and white chocolate cookies (I am addicted to them at present)
and I had hot (not that hot) chocolate again

before heading down towards the gallery to see a new art exhibition

I tried to take some of the boards of info but not sure if you'll be able to read them

this link for the website gives more info
the artwork was bright and colourful
it's on for quite a while so will try and get more, better photos again
