It was already low 20's when we arrived at Kew. It was a day for finding shade wherever possible and there were significantly fewer pictures taken than usual
round bed at to of Broad Walk
there were event staff clearing barriers from last night's Kew the Music event from around the bed
went round to check on progress on the new Carbon Garden... coming alone, due to open 25 July
top of rock garden
evolution garden
so many roses on this stem it was nearly on the floor
vine along the fence of the veg garden
still some white poppies in the evolution garden
it was nearly 9 so time to head for breakfast before heading for the cool of the woodland
we managed to find a shady table
and shortly joined by regular members Patrick and Joyce who we've not seen for ages.
I managed not to spill chocolate brownie on the new white trousers, result!
heron sitting on a tree trunk keenly searching below for snacks!the lake was much greener than the grass!
we sat in the woodland for a bit, but there wasn't much in the way of wildlife and no sign of Goldie
so we moved on to the new bench near the Redwoods, another shady restthen off to the davies exploration house
there was a bit of a breeze blowing through
the big central doors to the Temperate House were open
would have been so nice to sit in the water at the foot of this
lotus flower time
as we came out of the Temperate House we decided it was too hot to walk round any more open areas
so headed back to the lake for some more shade
great patch of daisies in what remains of grass
we found a seat on the edge of the lake in shade and sat for a while
before calling it a day - we did make it to nearly noon, which isn't bad in the heat (it wasn't as bad as earlier this week, or we could have given up a while before)
