There was another large crowd for the orchids this morning but Kim and I weren't visiting them today.
we started of course at the Palm Houseand then took Kim's favoured route
heading past swathes of crocus
trying not to trample them underfoot
as we approached the lake we saw a large tree with a group of green parakeets
trying not to trample them underfoot
as we approached the lake we saw a large tree with a group of green parakeets
I didn't have the long zoom with me though
and round the lake
then past (or should that be through) the mirrors
and round the lake
signs of spring on the trees
roots
more signs of spring
passing the table and chairs left after a years old Alice in Wonderland event - love that they've been left to weather and warp.
then along the kid's Log Walk through the woodland
this was a snake-like log
wavy funghi, like seaweed
we thought these looked like shells
I was starting to have trouble with the macro lens, it kept not focusing and I had to keep changing programme back and forwards to get it to work.
when we got into the woodland walk itself, we came across daffodils
and moss covered tree stumps
some were close to the edge of the path
so pretty
and some more funghi
Queen Charlotte's cottage hidden by rhododendrons
fir tree
peering up into the tree canopy trying not to topple over backwards
redwoods
lovely old tree stump in a clearing
amazing mix of colours and patterns
delicate little edgworthia flowers
buds on the flowering cherry trees
inside the Temperate House
we could hear a robin inside singing loudly, it was mostly hidden today and didn't want to play for the camera!
I am determined to get a decently focused photo fo this pretty flower before they go!
deliciously scented narcissus
camera really didn't want to work here...
pretty flower on the Kalanchoe (showed last week with the gorgeous leaves)
aeonium
another robin in the main section
heading up to the viewing platform
been a while since I've come up here
you can get a good view of this tall shrub from the stairs
and this climber scrambling round one of the pillars
back down on the ground
Kim sent me some photos she took of me ....
I was trying to take one of her taking one of me but the lens wouldn't focus in time
I know most of this salvia is out of focus but love the hairy tip!
water drops!
outside again now
gulls flying around at the pond
quick walk down the Broad Walk
and some hellebores in the evolution garden to finish
we didn't stop for refreshments today and it was gone 12.30 so we both headed home..
quite a decent journey home for a bus version!
thanks for looking, see you next week (hopefully all lenses will play nicely then!)

Sorry I am late visiting. I've had company since Friday and they are now on their way back to CA.
The beds in front of the Palm House aren't growing very fast, but the crocus more than make up for that.
I enjoyed the mirrors this week. I also enjoyed seeing the Kids Log Walk. LOTS of great fungi shots, too.
You took us on a very different path and I also enjoyed seeing Queen Charlotte's cottage.
What great colors on the bird of paradise. And that robin that is so different from ours.
It was so fun seeing photos of you,m too. Thanks for sharing these with us. Glad your trip home was uneventful, too.
I'm definitely seeing plenty of spring colour and it is a joy to see, love the carpet of crocuses they look beautiful. You look like you had an excellent visit, albeit that it was grey and overcast. Love the robin shot and the snowdrops looking beautiful.
The mirrors are always fabulous and the variety of funghi was amazing.
Hope you've had a good weekend, have a great week ahead.
Hugs
