Kew - the 2013 Orchid Festival

At long last the weather and my other commitments allowed me to get to Kew on Saturday - well, I wasn't going to miss the first day of their annual Orchid Festival!!  Can't believe though that it is October that I last went!!

Anyhow, it was pretty cold on Saturday morning, and the skies were grey and dull - lucky then, that the orchids are on display in the tropical warmth of the Princess of Wales Glasshouse!

The main display in the waterlily pond

Loved this orchid living wall, mixed with airplants!!

Regular misting keeps the orchids in good condition, and adds atmosphere to the pictures!!

 Huge pillars of blossoms, magnificent!
This wasn't on Saturday, but in October when I was there last time, never seen so many toadstools together in the grass!

Oh wow Helen, what beautiful clear crisp photos you've captured. Love that wall, it's so colourful.

Glad you managed to get there and stayed dry - lol

I can't believe how long it's been since I've been to your photo blog. I had a LOT of catching up to do. As always, I feel I was right there with you on this journey to Kew in February.
